CSCI 597K - Bioinformatics

Description
Interdisciplinary view of Bioinformatics is presented in a seminar style. Sequence alignment, scripting languages, databases, phylogentics, genomics, proteomics and select advanced topics are covered from a variety of disciplinary perspectives. Students give presentations and participate in a significant group project, in which they implement an algorithm and/or computational approach from a recently published conference or journal manuscript. Biology and/or Chemistry coursework expeirnece is not mandatory.
