Examines the philosophical, political, and literary works that gave rise to the mythical status of Weimar as the intellectual heart of Germany. Sudents read selected works by Luther, Goethe, Schiller, Fichte, and the Jena Romantics. Includes an optional week-long excursion to Weimar, Germany. Also listed as GES 397.
