Covers the history of journalism and the mass media in the United States, colonial times to the present. Discusses the mass media as a complex social and cultural institution and focuses on the integration of the media into the social, economic, and political systems in the United States and on the effects the press has had on those systems. Prerequisite: Journalism 141 with a grade of C or better and 60 units (crs.). (3+0) (Fall). Add Consent: Department Consent Required.

Yikes. He's so random. There were no tests in this class, but I would have preferred them because it was hard to know what he wanted. Didn't like how the class was set up.

The daily one-question quizzes are frustrating because you'll regularly lose points even if you come to every class and read the book. But otherwise he's a good guy and I enjoyed his journalism history course. If you're good at writing papers then the two historical news event essays will not be hard.
