BPH 339 - Topics in Public Health

Description
The course focuses on current topics in public health with an emphasis on special populations, diseases, or events. The course is designed to address public health concerns that are timely and relevant; topics will rotate periodically in response to student demand and/or emerging public health issues. Prior topics have included infectious disease, obesity, global health, child health, and substance use disorders. Cr. 3. Class Notes: This course will examine the multiple facets of substance use disorders including the neurobiology of addiction, the diagnosis and treatment, and the societal impact. There will be a focus on factors leading to changes in substance use and how public health approaches and health policy can provide solutions. This is a combined section class.
