Description
The integers. The Euclidean algorithm, the Fundamental Theorem of Arithmetics, and the integers mod n. Polynomials with coefficients in a field. The division algorithm, the Euclidean algorithm, the unique factorization theorem, and its applications. Polynomials whose coefficients are rational, real or complex. Polynomial interpolation. The habits of mind of a mathematical thinker. The conceptual underpinnings of school algebra. Enrollment Requirements: Admission to the MAT or MScT program in mathematics or to a graduate program in the College of Education and Human Sciences.
