Is inequality a policy choice? Students in this course will examine and participate in debates around whether and which policies have the capacity to create, sustain, exacerbate, and/or ameliorate inequalities in the United States. Class Notes: Debates in Public Policy and Racial Inequality: Assessing the Impact of Policy on Schooling and Educational Inequalities. The focus in this course is on schools and educational issues as they relate to policies and practices in the United States. Students will examine the varying ways policies work to sustain, exacerbate, and/or ameliorate educational inequalities specifically for underrepresented groups.
