EDEC 550 - EC Curriculum Analysis, Design, and Assessment

Offered spring. This course will examine the underlying principles of curriculum design, implementation, and assessment. Students will complete an in-depth critique of a published early childhood curriculum, determining if the curriculum is evidence based, developmentally and culturally appropriate, comprehensive, aligned with appropriate early learning standards, and if the curriculum can easily be modified to meet the needs of all learners including those who may have special needs. Additionally, students will use a backward design model to create, implement, and assess a curriculum for young children including those who are culturally, linguistically, and ability diverse.
