ECON 471 - Financial Markets and Institutions

Description
The role and function of financial markets and institutions in the economy is surveyed and analyzed. The operation of financial markets such as those for stocks, bonds, foreign exchange, and derivative securities is examined. The role of central banks and regulatory organizations in financial markets is discussed. The operation and management of financial institutions such as depository institutions, investment banks, mutual funds, and insurance companies may also be covered. Class Notes: This course is a fully online course requiring reliable internet access, computer literacy, and the ability to self-manage independent learning assignments with specified deadlines.Instructional content is asynchronous using Blackboard Collaborate and pre-recorded videos. Homework and exams are synchronously scheduled through Blackboard. Exam and homework assignment dates are listed on the course syllabus posted on Blackboard. Enrollment Requirements: You must have taken ECON 374 and ECON 311 and received a grade of "C" or better before taking this class.
