John Hess is the GOAT. Best prof at UMASS. Keeps you aware of whats going on in the University and is engaging and interesting. He has a high level of respect for all of his students but is not afraid to go there. would take his class again!!!

Professor Hess was an awesome teacher. He demonstrated a wide knowledge of the subject and seemed genuinely interested about what he was teaching. He does require you to bring the large amount of readings to class, so if you don't like reading on a screen, get ready to print. He gives extensive comments on papers which I found very helpful.
