MDL 5080 - Middle Childhood Education Organization and Practice Capstone

Description
The course introduces the concept of "middle school philosophy" and how it affects the development of a comprehensive educational programin a middle school. Some of the middle school components addressed include: teaming, interdisciplinary and exploratory curriculum, block scheduling, advisory program, instructional strategies based on constructivism and other learning theories, cooperative learning, and assessment strategies appropriate for the classroom, as well as the large scale assessment practices including the "value-added assessment". In addition, this course provides an opportunity for candidates to synthesize their professional behaviors and competencies through tasks designed for reflection, synthesis and application of pedagogical information acquired during their studies in middle school education. Candidates will also contribute to the knowledge base undergirding middle school teaching by designing and completing a reflective analysis related to teaching in middle school classrooms. Pre-Requisite: To take this course you must: Have taken the following Courses 18MDL503 min grade D-, or MDL4010 min grade D-. Be enrolled in one of these Sub Plans MDL-LM, MDL-LN, MDL-LS, MDL-MN, MDL-SM, MDL-SN.
