PHIL 105W - Shame, in Antiquity & Today

Description
An investigation into the nature of shame and the role it should play in our moral psychology. Readings will include classic ancient Greek works, such as the dialogues of Plato; modern scholarship on the ancient Greek sources; and contemporary ethical discussions of shame. No background in ancient Greek or contemporary moral philosophy is required.
