SCE 3030 - Science Matters

Description
This course is designed to promote an awareness of how teachers can engage teenage students in learning and make science matter to them. Course topics include readings and discussions pertinent to Next Generation Sunshine State Standards, and/or Common Core State Standards and pedagogy for teaching science. A central theme of the course is the connections between fields of science, and applications to modern life. Class activities will provide opportunity for students to review and explore topics from biology, physical science, astronomy, ecology and earth science. The course addresses specific Next Generation Sunshine State Standards, and/or Common Core State Standards and pedagogy pertinent to the discipline and required for certification, and will serve as a fundamental science content review in preparations for teaching, and for taking Florida Subject area exams, as well as exploring the fundamental concepts of science literacy for all students. 32 contact hours.
