SLHS 668 - Typical and Atypical Social Communication Development

Description
Prerequisites: Restricted to upper-division Communicative Disorders major; completion of SLHS 656GW, SLHS 664, and SLHS 753; or by advisement; concurrent enrollment in SLHS 659 and SLHS 663 required.Exploration of the typical and atypical development of language use in social contexts, including expressing communicative intent, engaging in conversation and extended discourse, and cultural participation. Pragmatic and discourse analysis of talk in everyday interactions involving children. Diagnostic and intervention strategies. (Plus-minus letter grade only) [Formerly C D 668]. Class Notes: * LM 10: Online Bichronous (blend of on-demand and real-time) Classes -- This is a bichronous online course that blends asynchronous and synchronous types of learning throughout the semester. Synchronous sessions only happen during the time noted in the class schedule, and students should check the course syllabus to learn whether these synchronous sessions are required or optional. Enrollment Requirements: Must be an upper division Communicative Disorders major to enroll in this course.
