Description
Course Description: Examination of the theoretical background and the intricacies of risk communication, with a focus on strategic communication. From health crises to earthquakes to environmental disasters, this course explores several modern day challenges through a series of cases studies and exercises emphasizing preparation/mitigation, audience analysis, message development, communication channel identification, and outcome evaluation. Expected preparation: research methods (e.g., Comm 311). Also offered for graduate-level credit as Comm 545 and may be taken only once for credit. Prerequisite: Upper-division standing.
