FINC 4601 - Financial Markets and Institutions

Description
This course will introduce students to monetary policy and its effects on asset prices and economic performance. The quantitative theory of money will be emphasized; identifying the relationship between money creation, GDP growth, and inflation of both consumer prices and varying asset classes. We will offer a critique of a central bank's role in the economy, the tools it uses, how these tools affect the economy and how effective these policies have been in a historical context with emphasis on both domestic and international financial crises.
