Contributions of Weber, Simmel, Mead, Homans, Goffman and others to contemporary micro-level sociological theories. Origins and development of symbolic interaction, ethnomethodology, exchange theory and dramaturgy. Theories of the self, social construction of reality, emotions, interpersonal relationships. Interrelationship of theory and research; use of original works. Prerequisite: 3 cr. in SOC, 200 level
