SPE 579 - Application of Technology in Special Education

Description
Prerequisite: admission to Teacher Education; and SPE 320. This course is designed to provide pre-service special education teachers with an introduction to the use of computer technology and a variety of assistive and augmentative technology in the instruction of children and adults with learning, behavior, sensory, motor and communication disabilities. Students will incorporate effective practices for the use of assistive and augmentative technology in assessment, selection of devices, and evaluation of assistive technologies for individuals with disabilities. Students acquire competencies related to the use of assistive devices and emerging technologies through online and field based demonstrations the implementation of effective practices in schools and other agencies which serve individuals with disabilities. 3(3-0) D
