MUS 200 - Principles and General Methods of Music Education

Description
Prerequisite: MUS 148. This serves as the gateway course to the teacher music education program. An overview of school organization, management techniques, goals, objectives, assessment, technology, curriculum preparation, unit planning, and diversity as a knowledge base for K-12 music teachers is developed through student projects. Students participate in a 30-hour field experience in area schools. The portfolio checkpoint required for admission to teacher education will occur during this course. A grade of "C" or better in this course is required to be admitted to the teacher education program. The field observation component requires the student to carry educational liability insurance, a TB test, and registration with the Missouri Family Care Safety Registry (FCSR). 3(2-4) F,S
