AH 326 - History of Prints

Examines the evolution of modern printmaking from the Renaissance through the 19th and 20th centuries using the collections of the Baltimore Museum of Art, particularly those from the Lucas and Cone collections. The first part of the course will focus on the technical innovations of earlier printmakers including the invention of lithography and seriography. With these innovations and a growing recognition of the print’s artistic significance, the stage was set for the rapid growth of the print in the 20th century. Enrollment Requirements: Prerequisite: AH 201.
