VTEC 20216 - Laboratory And Exotic Animal Medicine

Description
Introduction to laboratory medicine and management, including basic husbandry, common diseases, and treatment protocols for various laboratory animal species, pocket pets, avian and exotic species. The student will learn scientific names and primary use of common laboratory animals and will practice restraint, sexing, appropriate methods of venipuncture, administration of medications, and anesthetic techniques. Prerequisites: VTEC 10001, VTEC 10205, VTEC 10206, VTEC 20008, VTEC 20010, VTEC 20212.
