NURS 35075 - Introduction to Forensic Nursing

Description
This course will explore the basic concepts and foundations of forensic nursing in both criminal and civil contexts. The different roles and responsibilities of the forensic nurse in the investigation of violence and trauma, as well as the integration of scientific, ethical and legal principles into the acute care and community nursing practice will be examined. Providing specialized, holistic care of victims and families will be stressed. Students will review victimology, evaluate prevalent population-based health issues and explore forensic nursing interventions. Prerequisite: None.
