ENG 215 - Poetry Writing and Reading

Description
Students learn to write poetry through reading and imitating the techniques of the great poets of the past and present. Use of fixed forms like the limerick, haiku, and sonnet to generate poetry. Variations on standard genres like the nature description, seduction poem, or aubade. Imitating catalogues, extended metaphors, tone of voice. How to publish poetry. Enrollment Requirements: Prerequisite: ENG 201. Requirement Designation: Regular Liberal Arts.
