This course is an introduction to physiological, psychological, environmental, social, and behavioral theories concerning the etiology and maintenance of alcohol and drug addiction. The study and application of research-based theories of counseling will be emphasized. The history of alcohol and drug counseling and recent developments and issues in the field will also be discussed.
