EDU 747 - Developing Literacy with Children's Literature

An examination of children's literature will be offered. Personal and academic values that various types of literature offer to children's literacy growth will be explored. The variety of literature categories to support literacy and content learning will be provided. An emphasis on multicultural and international literature to enrich children's lives is an important focus of the course. Course participants will be engaged in planning the literature curriculum for young children and for those in the elementary grades. A field experience and Task Stream electronic portfolio are required. Class Notes: Closed Class. Permission Number Required from the Department Chairperson.
