Voice VII-VIII take the student into an extensive study of the accents and dialects most often used on the English- speaking stage. The course begins with a review of the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA), introduces different options for achieving accents of the British Isles (typically: Standard British, Irish, Cockney, and West Country). During the spring semester students continue the work of Voice VII. In addition, the course explores Scottish and Welsh and introduces a variety of interna- tional accents (typically: Italian, French, German, and Russian. Prerequisites: HTA 305, HTA 310, and HTA 321.
