HTA 400 - Shakespeare in Text and Perfor

Description
HTA 400 - Shakespeare in Text and Performance The course focuses on a detailed reading of Shakespeare's plays, and providing a dramaturgical approach to the specific text to be presented by the Actor Training students during the spring semester. Additional readings in Shakespeare, in relevant contemporary criticism, and in the work of other writers of the age will set the play in generic and historical context. Students will engage in weekly practice interpreting Shakespeare's text using the First Folio approach developed by Patrick Tucker. Emphasis falls on moving Shakespeare's text from writing to speaking and on exploring how the printed cues relate to dramatic performance.
