Assigns way too much reading. Acts like she's in a lecture hall, even though it's a nine person seminar. Does not know how to lead a discussion; does not respond to students comments in class. Very helpful outside of class and truly cares. Unfortunately, class is boring and too politically correct for any interesting discussion.

I had the privilege of taking Professor Balzer's graduate course when I was an undergraduate. Her inspiring support for the intellectual potential of students influenced my professional choices after graduating from Georgetown. I was able to undertake a study on ethnic identities in Uganda soon after graduation and eventually pursue a PhD.
