This course will cover historical and contemporary aspects of intentional introduction of microbial and chemical agents in the food chain with specific emphasis on animal viruses like foot-and-mouth disease, mad cow, Rift Valley fever, hog cholera, highly pathogenic avian influenza West Nile, and New Castle Disease. Plant pathogens, such as soy bean rust will be covered. Moreover animal and plant agent lists will be discussed to include human cross-over agents. Discussions relevant to first responders will be detailed. Comments: Our professor who teaches this course plans on teaching every other week on Thursdays from 12:10PM to 3:00PM and Fridays from 10:05AM to 1:05PM.
