GHDP 625 - Applied Econometrics Workshop

Description
This course is designed to create a rich intellectual environment where students develop the necessary skills to produce an applied econometrics paper of publishable quality in the field of international development. The principal learning goals are (1) quasi-experimental research design and estimation methods using large-sample microdata and (2) the writing, critique, and presentation of evidence-based policy analysis. To achieve these objectives, students have two roles in the workshop: the author of their own paper and the peer reviewer for a classmate. Students work individually with an external advisor—a professor or practitioner whose expertise coincide with their chosen topic. The course instructor acts as a second reader with whom the student can consult on methodological, data, and coding issues.
