ECON 622 - Development Economics

Description
The purpose of this course is to provide you with a basic understanding of a number of important concepts and theories in the literature on economic development. Topics to be covered include: Coordination failure and history dependence; Inequality; Rural credit markets; Insurance; Savings and other protections from risk; Land; and Institution, geography and political economy. The strongest emphasis will be placed on a firm grasp of the conceptual issues involved, but empirical papers and case studies will be discussed.
