CHEM -055 is the first semester of two-semester General Chemistry Lecture sequence intended for chemistry and biochemistry majors with an emphasis on developing analytical problem solving skills and reasoning skills. This course covers fundamental principles and laws in chemistry. Topics include matter and measurements, atoms, molecules and ions, stoichiometry, reactions in solutions, thermochemistry, electronic structure of atoms, periodic properties of elements, chemical bonding, molecular geometry, and gases.
