Study of the first law of thermodynamics, properties of pure substances, entropy, the second law of thermodynamics, reversible and irreversible processes, availability (exergy), ideal vapor power cycles, ideal gas power cycles, and refrigeration and heat pump cycles. 150 minutes lecture/discussion and 150 minutes laboratory per week. Prerequisites: PHYS 2220, and CHEM 1000 both with a C- or better. Class Notes: Requires $10 course material fee.
