EDCS 5060 - Theories in Counseling

Description
This course is designed to focus on basic concepts and theoretical models of counseling with a specific emphasis on their application for use in K-12 and/or college or university settings. Models include Learning Theories, Psychoanalytic, Adlerian, Existential, Person Centered, Gestalt, Behavioral, Cognitive-Behavioral, Behavioral Learning Theories, Reality, Feminist, Postmodern, Brief, Narrative, Solution-Focused, Theories of Motivation, and Family Systems approaches. Application of each theoretical perspective across the life span, within ethical boundaries, as it impacts diverse populations is presented. Enrollment Requirements: Main Campus Must be a COUNS major and must have obtained graduate classified standing to take this course.
