ECON 4908 - Senior Project

Description
Economic theories relating to market efficiency and failure, public expenditure, taxation, and political and bureaucratic behavior. Examination of programs and policies in areas such as health care, technology, social insurance, welfare and income redistribution, child care and education, and transportation. Examination of the tax system, fiscal federalism, and state and local government revenue and expenditure patterns. Online information resources are used to locate and assess policy analyses and analyze expenditures and revenues for all levels of government. Prerequisite: At least 90 units and completion of JYDR. Departments may assign additional prerequisites. Satisfies general education requirements SELF and Capstone. Class Notes: Although aspects of this course may be delivered virtually, students are required to be available during the designated time blocks for course activities such as scheduled exams, ZOOM or Microsoft Meet class meetings, etc. These activities may be scheduled regularly or occasionally throughout the semester depending on the course. Economics Majors Only. Enrollment Requirements: Main Campus Prerequisite: At least 90 units and completion of JYDR. Departments may assign additional prerequisites.
