This course provides instruction on the pharmacotherapeutic management of medical disorders that can primarily be treated utilizing nonprescription medications and nutraceutical products. The students will be taught how to assess a patient’s current health status to determine if they are a candidate for self-care. Foundational concepts of pathophysiology relative to nonprescription products are also presented. Students are expected to assess patients, make therapeutic recommendations and provide the appropriate counseling information to ensure safe and effective use of the recommended products.
