The Chemical Basis of Drug Action emphasizes the relevance of chemistry to contemporary pharmacy practice. The course integrates chemical, biochemical and physiological principles to derive structure-activity relationships for commonly encountered drugs that explain the scientific rationale for their therapeutic use. Active learning strategies are utilized to help learners develop the skills necessary to provide a scientific basis for patient-centered therapeutic decision-making.
