This course is the second of a two-semester sequence for the prospective Pre-K through Grade 6 teacher. Students will develop a comprehensive understanding of the mathematical curriculum as recommended by the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) Standards. Topics will include: proportional reasoning, data and chance, basic two-dimensional and three-dimensional geometry, congruence transformations, symmetry, tessellations, similarity, fraction sense, perimeter and area, and surface area and volume. (3 cr. hrs.) (Spring).
