SLP 246 - Clinical Experience II

This final field experience course provides the student with an opportunity to perform advanced speech-language pathology assistant responsibilities under appropriate supervision. Additional emphasis will be placed on report writing and independent execution of therapeutic skills. This course is not open to students with credit for SLP 245. Transfer Credit: CSU. Class Notes: Enrollment in SLP 241 and SLP 246 is contingent upon department approval. All placements are done by the instructor and require the student to be available Monday – Friday during regular business hours. Students planning to enroll in SLP 246 are required to attend a mandatory orientation in November. All required documentation as stated in the SLPA Handbook and listed on the website under "Field Placements" must be submitted at that time. Resume, clearance of an interview, a criminal background check, and/or drugs of abuse testing may be required prior to clinical field experience and are the responsibility of the student. Students are responsible for their own transportation to and from their clinical placements. Enrollment Requirements: SLP 235 and SLP 241 or equivalent with grades of "C" or higher or "Pass." Students must have departmental approval to enroll in this course.
