SLP 241 - Clinical Experience I

This introductory field experience course will provide the student with an orientation to clinical placement and provide the student with the opportunity to perform basic speech-language pathology assistant responsibilities under appropriate supervision. This course is not open to students with credit for SLP 240. Transfer Credit: CSU. Class Notes: Enrollment in SLP 241 and SLP 246 is contingent upon department approval. All placements are done by the instructor and require the student to be available Monday – Friday during regular business hours. On the first Thursday of the 18-week calendar, students are required to attend a mandatory orientation and submit all required documentation as stated in the SLPA Handbook and listed on the website under "Field Placements" at Resume, clearance of an interview, a criminal background check, and/or drugs of abuse testing may be required prior to clinical field experience and are the responsibility of the student. Students are responsible for their own transportation to and from their clinical placements.". Enrollment Requirements: SLP 108 and SLP 125 or equivalent with grades of "C" or higher or "Pass." Students must have departmental approval to enroll in this course.
