MATH 143 - Pre Calculus

Pre-calculus emphasizes the notion of function as a unifying concepts for the topics of college algebra and an extension of the topics of trigonometry. The following families of functions and their characteristics are examined within this course: polynomial functions; rational functions; exponential and logarithmic functions; and trigonometric functions. Writing assignments, as appropriate to the discipline, are part of the course. Applications involving problem-solving skills will be emphasized throughout the course. Class Notes: This class will be held remotely with no scheduled instructional time spent on the College campus. The instructor may ask you to Zoom for some or all sessions at the days and times listed in the schedule. Enrollment Requirements: Completion of Math 99 with a C or better, or ALEKS 46+, or COMPASS ALGEBRA 43+ AND College ALGEBRA 1-50, or ACT Math 21+, or SAT Math 500+ if before 3/1/16 (530+ if after 3/1/16) , or Consent of department.
