He's a great musician, but he's not the best teacher. If you really like music and you show interest he will be very happy to help you. He believes that music can change lives and if you are very into music, you will do well. If not, I would take a different class.

Don't take this w/o a prior backgrnd in music. Most students w/o any prior knowledge dropped the class. Easy-going professor, but the amount of material is too much for complete beginners to absorb, I think. With some prior knowledge in music, tho, you can learn a lot! Tests can have tricky q's, but usually follow the book & class material.
