3 hours; 3 creditsExamination of the theory and practice of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender politics. Political analysis of the legal regulation of sexuality and gender, the emergence of modern civil rights movements of sexual minorities, and the discourses of liberation, assimilation, and destabilization deployed in those movements. (Women's and Gender Studies 3354 [41] and Political Science 3442 [78.5] are the same course)Prerequisite for POLS. 3442: Core Studies 3 or Core Curriculum 1230, or any Political Science course in the 1000-level range, or English 1010 or equivalent, or permission of department.Prerequisite for WGST. 3354: Women's Studies 1001 [12] or permission of the program coordinator. Class Notes: SAME AS WGST 3354. Enrollment Requirements: Core Studies 3 or Core Curriculum 1230, or any Political Science course in the 1000-level range, or English 1010 is required to take this course. Requirement Designation: Regular Liberal Arts.
