POLS 428 SEMINAR IN CONTEMPORARY COMPARATIVE POLITICS (3-0-3)(F/S). Intensive study of a particular issue or problem in comparative politics. PREREQ: POLS 305; or International Business or Global Studies major or minor, with junior standing or above or PERM/INST. Class Notes: Description:How has the most ancient culture in Europe managed to survive the power of modern cultural globalization?This course examines the relationship between minority cultures, politics and power. A multidisciplinary perspective (history, sociology, literature, anthropology) allows for a global revision of the concept of culture as an essential means to strengthen collective identity and resist global homogenization. The Basque historical and contemporary context in Europe is explored as a case study. Enrollment Requirements: Prerequisite: POLS 305; or International Business or Global Studies major or minor, with junior standing or above, or permission of instructor.
