CRIJ 1306 - Court Systems And Practices

3 lecture hours per week; 48 total contact hours. Credit: 3 semester hours. This course is a study of the court system as it applies to the structures, procedures, practices and sources of law in American courts, using federal and Texas statutes and case law. Overview of the judiciary in the criminal justice system; structure of American court system; prosecution; right of counsel; pretrial release; grand juries; adjudication process; types and rules of evidence; sentencing.
