HIST 572 - Police and the People

Description
An examination of the relationship between police and the American public during the twentieth century. Students explore issues including the evolution of policing tactics, concerns about public safety, fractious relationships between police and communities, and public efforts to reform police procedures. Students consider historians' accounts of police-community relations alongside primary sources and representations in popular culture. Prerequisite: HIST*162, HIST*163, or HIST*257; and permission of the instructor Distribution Requirements: none
